Samsung's CES Highlights: P3 Portable Media Player

I spent a great deal of time in Samsung's booth at CES this year, checking out their new Luxia line of TVs, HMX Camcorders, and the P3 Portable Media Player.
An upgrade to their P2 player, the P3 has the same screen type and size, and much the same features as the P2. Namely the 3-inch LCD screen with 480x272 resolution, a touch interface, FM radio, Bluetooth, and more. New to the P3: up to 32GB of storage, and haptic feedback. As with nearly everything new at CES 2009, no pricing was given, and Samsung was vague on availability except to say the P3 will hit shelves "1st Half 2009." Click through for more detailed specs.
Samsung P3 Portable Media Player Specs:
- EmoTure interface with widget-type menus, interactive icons
- Music Hot Touch Key
- Built-in Bluetooth, Microphone, and Speaker
- 3-inch WQVA TFT LCD Screen (480x272)
- Haptic technology for heightened tactile feedback
- Plays: MP3, MPEG4, WMV, WMA
- Shows: JPEG and text files
- Versions: 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB
Again, no pricing is available, but the 16GB Samsung P2 currently sells for $249.99 on Amazon, so it'll probably cost a few more clams for the new model, and more so for 32GB of space. We've reviewed the best MP3 and media players on our Consumer Electronics site, so check them out if you want the best travel companion, or a great way to tune everything out.
