Sony OLED Walkman Gets US Price
The granite-covered (ok, it just looks like granite) Sony X1000 series walkman may now have a price. Kind of. It has a potential price. It has a theorized price. Ok, it now has a rewards points value that can be redeemed by those loyal Sony customers to get their hands on the first US edition of the marble-inspired walkman. But the points to price conversion isn't the only interesting thing.
The 16GB Walkman, with the cool OLED touchscreen, will cost 29,995 points. With each point evuivalent to $0.01, that translates to $299.95. The 32GB version will cost 10,000 more points, so it will come in about $399.95. Anybody else see the relationship here?
There is another famous touchscreen MP3 player we've all heard of. It also has price points at $299 and $399. Does Sony think that just because it has an OLED screen it can go after Apple's Touch? We'll have to see what unfolds.
