The flagship of the Sandisk line, the Sansa e280 is chalk full of features, supports most major music subscription services and is reasonably priced for a MP3 player of its storage capacity and technology.
The Sansa e280 features a 1.8 inch screen, 20 hours of battery life, subscription music support and mechanical click wheel for navigation. The e280 supports MP3, copy protected WMA and WAV music files; it includes a micro SD slot, FM tuner and voice recorder.
Critics found the Sansa e280 to be a fair competitor to the iPod Nano (second generation) in performance and functionality. They liked the removable/replaceable battery and scratch resistant casing. However, physically the e280 is heavier and considerably thicker than the Nano. Users like the integration with Rhapsody, and feel that it although isn’t an “iPod Killer” it is a solid device.
The Sansa e280 was the world’s first 8 GB flash based MP3 player and after some time on the market it still proves to be a strong contender.
