The Sansa e280 features a 1.8 inch screen, 20 hours of battery life, subscription music support and mechanical click wheel for navigation. The e280 supports MP3, copy protected WMA and WAV music files; it includes a micro SD slot, FM tuner and voice recorder.

Critics found the Sansa e280 to be a fair competitor to the iPod Nano (second generation) in performance and functionality. They liked the removable/replaceable battery and scratch resistant casing.
