7 or 9-inch iPod Touch Coming in '09: Is This the Rumored Apple Tablet?

Maybe the standard 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen on the iPod Touch is big enough for all you slender-fingered boys and girls out there, but when you have gargantuan, powerful hands like I do, the iPod Touch is a bit petite for comfortable use. That's why it's with some delight that I and my comrades the world over pored over confirmed rumors of the '09 release of a bigger iPod Touch.
TechCrunch confirmed the existence of prototype iPod models with 7 and 9-inch touchscreens floating around the top secret Apple Area-51 labs. If Apple is planning on releasing a whopping 9-incher, we can go ahead and call 'er a tablet PC or computing media kit with accelerometer. 9 inches doesn't exactly fit in a coat pocket. This thing will be more of a tablet computer than a traditional mp3/media player. Maybe an Apple netbook?
I certainly won't complain. See, one gadget I'm particularly enamored with despite its general unwieldiness is the Archos Media Tablet. It's basically your run-of-the-mill MP4 player and web browser with a comfortably large display. I'll be happy to see iPod follow suit and jump on the size bandwagon. Not only will a larger iPod Touch make manhandling it easier, video will look good enough to actually enjoy. Games implementing accelerometer technology will look better and will require no squinting. And while I dig the Kindle, I'd much rather go with the all-in-one device that would handle every stripe of media.
3.5-inches or less just doesn't cut it when it comes to video, web browsing, or reading. With humongous displays, it looks like '09's jumbo iPods just might be a good fit for guys like me with a love of big screens.
