Microsoft Confirms App Downloads for Zune HD: 3D Games, Twitter, Facebook and More
There has been little doubt about whether the Zune HD would support apps and games, but Microsoft decided to make it official today by announcing they would have all of that and more available for the Zune HD, which comes out today. Microsoft confirmed that there would be games for the Zune HD and even hinted at some interesting connections to the Xbox 360.
The Microsoft press release gets specific about some of the apps and games we’ll be seeing on the Zune HD pretty soon:
Later this year, Zune plans to release free applications such as Twitter for Zune and Facebook for Zune, in addition to fun 3-D games such as "Project Gotham Racing: Ferrari Edition," "Vans Sk8:...
Creative Zii EGG Available for Pre-Order, Ships This Month
The Creative Zii EGG has continued to baffle us even though it’s obviously an iPod Touch competitor. Maybe it’s the ambiguous name of the “stem cell computing” that the device uses. Maybe it’s the fact that PMPs are already such a nebulous category. Regardless, the Creative Zii EGG has some nifty capabilities, and what’s more, it will be shipping by the end of this month.
You can pre-order the Zii EGG, and Creative is promising that pre-orders will ship by the end of the month. Pretty darn soon. And to incentivize you to pre-order, Creative is including a free HD-out cable for all early orders. Of course, if you want to develop apps for the device, you...
Zune HD Leak Indicates Apps Are Coming for the Device
In the long, rumor-filled run up to the announcement of the Zune HD we’ve seen plenty of images and spec lists, but one feature in particular has remained in the hazy cloud of the unknown: Will the Zune HD support apps from the Windows Marketplace. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but a recent video leak gives us the best clue yet of what’s coming.
The video below comes from the Zune HD preview hosted by a few Best Buy stores. It clearly shows a menu option (currently locked) to browse apps. Matthew Arkin, the man behind the camera also claims that a Microsoft rep confirmed there is an SDK for the Zune HD, although we’re not so sure that’s confirmed in the...
Zune HD Available for Pre-Oder, Prices and Colors Confirmed
It looks like just about every rumor we’ve heard about the Zune HD has turned out to be true. Today Microsoft announced that the latest iteration of the Zune (that actually seems to have jumped several generations) is available for pre-order and confirmed the major specs.
The pricing has also been confirmed: The 16GB version will cost $220 and the 32GB will be $290. If you pre-order, you can get the 16GB in black and the 32GB in platinum; otherwise the Zune HD will be available in black, platinum, red, green and blue at launch, which is officially on September 15. You can also choose to have one of 10 engravings on the back of the device, if you want to be unique in exactly the...
Zune HD Release Date Leaked
The Zune HD has been receiving a lot of praise lately, which means it might be the first time anyone really gets excited about a Zune release date. If you’ve been waiting to hear when the little wonder will debut, you need to thank an anonymous Best Buy employee who leaked images of the Zune HD stands and promotional material. It’s pretty, I guess, but the important part is that the display says the Zune HD will be available to pick up on September 15.
The info came to light via Gizmodo, which originally hosted the images of the stands. The stand also indicates you can reserve your own early, which might be a good idea if all this good press coverage catches enough consumer...
